Internationally renowned charity Save the Children has been transforming the lives of children all over the world since its foundation in 1919. W
orking in 120 countries, helping the most vulnerable and hard to reach, in 2018 the charity provided assistance to more than 40 million children across the globe.
Save the Children recently staged a Centenary fundraising gala at London’s Roundhouse. Hosted by David Walliams and featuring theatrical and musical collaborations, the fundraiser showcased the very best of the international entertainment industry. The star-studded audience of more than 500 guests included leading figures from the business, sport, entertainment and arts communities. A speech from the charity’s Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, opened the event, which raised in excess of £1.6 million through sponsorship, table sales, donations and a silent auction.
Lisa was invited to concept the event along with Creative Director Anthony Biggs of the Playground Theatre due to her extensive experience creating animation for large scale rock tours with Treatment Studios. Her piece for Robbie Williams at the X-factor in particular provided inspiration.
She created powerful moodboards to reflect their founder Eglantine Jebb's revolutionary nature, a more rock and roll feel, more punk, looking at Dada and revolutionary graphcis to help Save The Children promote their brand's more uuncompromising nature.
She proposed the concept of 11 screens to immerse the audience in the 3 live performances and to make use of the layout of the roundhouse.
She then created 3 interactive animation that were mixed live on the night which provide the backdrop to a play with stars Helena Bonham-Carter, Joely Rochardson and narrated by Sue Perkins, as well as a backdrop for Emilé Sandé's new song 'You Are Not Alone'
Ginny Kearns, the show's organiser for Save the Children commented: Thank you again for your incredible support of Save the Children’s Centenary. I know we spoke on Friday but I’ve thought of little else over the weekend, that without the support and expertise of so many, the evening’s success wouldn’t have been possible. The lastest fundraising total is £1.6million, we are truly grateful.
